Skip the line and join us for a private guided tour through two of Berlin’s most important museums! We’ll take you on a journey through Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia and more, all in just 2.5 hours!

Immerse yourself in the ancient world with one of our private guides, as they take you on an unforgettable trip through two of Berlin’s most iconic museums!

Your day will start at the Neues Museum, where you’ll explore an impressive collection of art and artifacts from one of the jewels of the ancient world: Egypt. Your guide will take you on an in-depth journey through the history and culture of this civilization and how it evolved over the millennia of its existence.

You’ll walk through the chambers of Egyptian tombs as you learn about the Egyptians’ complex understanding of the after-life, and come face-to-face with the Berlin Green Head, one of the most famous pieces from ancient Egypt. You’ll also spend time with the marvelous Nefertiti Bust and learn more about this extraordinary Egyptian queen, her dynasty and the religious reforms she tried to implement. And don’t forget to get a good look at the museum itself: heavily damaged during the bombing of Berlin in World War II, unrestored portions of the building serve as our only examples of pre-war German architecture, and your guide will point out the many surprising juxtapositions of old and new.

Your next stop will be the Pergamon Museum, where you’ll find extraordinary examples of ancient Middle Eastern and Islamic art. Here, you’ll walk through beautifully reconstructed facades and mosaics; see the famous Market Gate of Miletus from ancient Rome; wander through the Classical Antiquities collection to discuss the daily routines of past western civilizations; and visit the Pergamon Altar, which dates back to the 2nd century BC and features friezes of gods battling giants. And in the Ancient Near East section, you’ll admire the world-famous Ishtar Gate from the Babylonian Empire, and discover an incredible sampling of art from the Arab world, including the wood-paneled Aleppo Room, a long-time favorite of the museum, which dates all the way back to the 17th century.

Highlights Include:

Nefertiti Bust: one of the most famous women of the ancient world

Berlin Green Head: one of the most realistic sculpted bald heads in history

Berlin Gold Hat: the best preserved of the four known conical gold hats of the Bronze Age

Market Gate of Miletus: built in the 2nd century AD, destroyed by an earthquake in the 11th century, excavated in the 1990s

Ishtar Gate: 8th gate to the inner city of Babylon, with blue glazed bricks and lions and dragons
