What happened to all the windmills? Which of the post-Impressionist painters had a cane filled with absinthe? What do you mean Montmartre wasn’t even originally Paris? Find the answers to these and other questions during our private tour of Montmartre, home of bohemian artists and birthplace of the Belle Époque period!
Your journey will start by the Moulin Rouge, and as you wind your way up the cobbled streets, one of our certified guides will describe the origins and artistic inhabitants of the area. You’ll visit the homes of painters like Van Gogh and Picasso, learn about France’s disco queen Dalida, see the cafe where the movie Amélie was filmed and admire the wares of the many artists working here today. At the top of the hill, you’ll explore the gleaming white Sacré Coeur Cathedral and take in the breathtaking view of the city. Join us for an evening tour if you’d like to watch the sunset (depending on the season)!
Highlights Include:
Moulin Rouge, where the cancan was invented
Sacré Coeur Cathedral (with time to go inside), best view of the city
Place Dalida, the disco queen of France
Van Gogh’s house, ear not included
Our tour guide was wonderful!! I tried writing a review just after our tour in September but the link did not work! We have been to Paris 8 times and Montmartre before but we never learned as much as we did on this tour. I could not recommend her enough!! We are going to book another tour before we arrive on our next Paris vacation! J and L
We had a very personal tour with an absolutely lovely guide. She as full of stories and information about the area - just terrific! After the tour, we opted to stay for the entire day, into the evening and continued to tour on our own. A must do!
It was so much fun waking through the streets of Montmartre and hearing the stories from our guide. It was an easy walk. I loved this tour!
Very informative and pleasant guide. Unique section of Paris with a great view of the city. We loved every minute of this tour.
I had a wonderful tour of Montmartre with Lily as my guide. She was very knowledgeable about the area and its history and enthusiastic in her presentation. I had been there some years ago and was impressed but did not know all that I had missed until Lily showed me the area and its highlights up close. The walking tour with Lily was a highlight of my time in Paris. Tom, who helped me set up this tour along a few others, was also extremely helpful. I will be returning with my husband and will definitely be booking with Babylon Tours again!
